Sales: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Holiday Weekends, etc.

UPDATED 2025: We've been getting a ton of questions about whether we'll be running a sale for Black Friday / Cyber Monday, and we thought it’d be easier to answer everyone in this blog post.

Will there be a sale during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, [insert your favorite holiday weekend]?

TL;DR: For the fourth year in a row, we will not be having a sale for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Our goal is to offer the best possible family travel gear at the best possible price we’re able to year-round. Unlike many companies, we refuse to sell our products at a higher price point during the year and then have them be cheaper during specific promotional periods like Black Friday. We know that parents have travel needs year-round, and we don’t want anyone to feel like they “missed” on a discount if they had to travel outside of these peak shopping holidays.

The Golden Ticket Event

Golden Ticket Event

We decided to try something completely NEW for us this Black Friday / Cyber Monday / Giving Tuesday, to show our appreciation for our customers — you. While we don't plan to run sales during holidays / promotional periods, we still wanted to do something extra special to extend our gratitude to every family who decides to purchase from us this holiday weekend. In the spirit of the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (special thank you to our 3-year-old mini-Willy Wonka in the photo above), we’ve decided to surprise every customer who purchases a Getaway Bag or a Hideaway Duffel (on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Giving Tuesday) with a special gift from us in their order! Details below:

  • Eligible Dates: Black Friday (11/28), Cyber Monday (12/1), and Giving Tuesday (12/2) — order must occur between 12:01am PT to 11:59pm PT on one of these 3 days.
  • Golden Ticket Eligibility: Similar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Daniel and I will be working with our warehouse to “hide” our own versions of a “golden ticket” surprise gift in every Getaway Bag or Hideaway Duffel purchased during the three dates above.
  • What are the Prizes?: Every customer who makes a purchase on these 3 days will receive one, two, or three of our Sliders! And 25 lucky families will receive the Complete Slider Set of four sliders (value: $85 USD).

Including this special “Golden Ticket” appreciation gift with purchase is the closest thing we’ll come to having a traditional “sale” — so if you’ve been planning to make a Getaway Bag / Hideaway Duffel purchase before winter holiday travel starts, this is the best moment to do so! Thank you in advance for supporting our little business during this holiday season, we hope this gift demonstrates how much we appreciate you.

“Buy One, Give one (to a family in need)” Campaign

Buy One Give One

Additionally, for the second year in a row, we hope to tap into one of our favorite parts of this time of year: giving. We have multiple exciting social impact initiatives this holiday season, and our first one is a special one-to-one giveback campaign to benefit families in need through our full-time impact partner, Baby2Baby! For every item purchased on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday, we will donate an identical item to Baby2Baby, supporting the organization’s mission to provide essential items to children in need across the United States. Through this partnership, we want to amplify the social impact of each purchase made during this peak shopping time period!

Additional thoughts around why we aren’t doing a sale.

In case you’re curious, this is something we think about deeply and we wanted to share some additional thoughts around our philosophy:
  • We will do everything we can to maintain prices (despite rising costs). This past year, we have done everything we can behind the scenes to shield our customers from any price increases in the face of massive and rapid increases to tariff. On top of these tariffs, this past year also greeted us with rising warehousing storage costs as well as higher end-to-end shipping costs from our factory to the warehouse. Because we care deeply about our customers, we have continued to absorb these higher costs and not passed any of these onto you in the form of a higher retail price. This might not be sustainable for us in the long-term, but we’re hopeful that many of these factors normalize in the not-too-distant future (as we’ve seen with the tariff rollback on food items this past week).
  • We are always improving our existing products (at no cost to you). Continuously investing in R&D to ensure we’re always designing the best possible travel gear for parents is the most important thing we can do as a company. Although our costs increase with each improvement to the existing products in our portfolio, we absorb this cost rather than pass it onto you.
  • We’re 100% bootstrapped! Unlike most other companies, we aren’t VC-backed or publicly-traded, which means that Daniel and I set modest growth goals and we accept that we’ll be sold out at times. This kind of planning helps us ensure that we’ll always be able to grow sustainably and not be forced into flash sale scenarios to meet “growth at all costs” targets / avoid bankruptcy. We’re building for the long-term and our hope is to create an independent small business that endures the test of time.
  • Excessive consumerism vs. conscious consumerism. While we of course love a great bargain in our personal lives, we try to be mindful of making impulse purchases — are we making our purchases because we really need the product, or because it’s heavily discounted? Our hope is that our products are ones you’ve researched, thoughtfully considered, and ultimately decide that your family truly needs, and will use them over a long period of time (hence our lifetime warranty)! We put a lot of thought into the unique combination of features in every product, and we know that deciding whether to make the investment at our year-round lowest price requires a lot of thought on your end too. Basically, we hope they’re the opposite of impulse purchases.
Sorry for such a lengthy post on this topic, but we truly wanted to share everything that’s top of mind for us as we enter Black Friday / Cyber Monday. We know it’s counter to the popular trend, and we hope this post helps explain why ❤.
